We're starting Brodeur against the Rags!

Pascal was mildly hurt in practice today and Elliott has the flu. Mike Brodeur might be getting the start. He certainly can't be worse than what we've been doing lately, right?

Interesting question from the guys at Silver Seven Sens (link on the right banner): are Pascal and Elliott our worst tandem ever? Statistically, yes. Is it possible we've created a belief that Pascal is greater than he actually was? Or is he just in a slump?

Or maybe he's just playing behind a team which is either so aggressive their defensive discipline sucks, or their defensive discipline just sucks.

Martin Brodeaur couldn't win behind these guys.

I vote slump.

I like the aggressiveness of the defence, and generally the forwards do a decent job of covering the gap when someone pinches from the point, or joins the rush opportunistically.

Puck possession is generally good, with decent movement on the down-low cycle. The problem is player movement once we're set up in the offensive zone. When a guy does get to the front of the net, its usually at least 10-15 seconds before anyone gets him the puck, and usually with him standing still. The defence is able to easily cover this, and the goalie is always ready for the shot. If we could get player movement to create space in the offensive zone, all those pinches by the D might actually turn into more goals.

I think you have some good points, Anshu, but when the defencemen that are pinching are named Carkner, then the goals ain't coming from that pressure.
